It has its virtues - homogenous AI text propagates quickly but with a creative ceiling. My own method of augmented outlining and human drafting would be optimal in the hands of a more skilled writer. I harbor no allusions about my own craft. Adequate, but more distinct than inspired.
Data driven decisions is a bit of a challenge. Because LLMs specifically combine whatever data you throw at them with their training corpus, and more pertinently a probabilistic path through that corpus, and the combination is neither predictable in advance nor fully auditable after the fact. So the “decision” ends up being a bet on an illegible process with known failure modes from very confident and smoothly plausible errors to complete fabrications. Caveat Emptor!
Part of directing AI has to be understanding what it is or isn’t effective at. Part of the NPC one size fits all approach is using it for everything indiscriminately. For those type of data driven processes, I’d think the skill and experience of the operator is especially important. Alternatively, your closing warning.
The hard skills are central. The irony is that the path to optimizing AI mastery runs offscreen. Were I still homeschooling, the requisite AI component would involve a lot of non-AI, especially at first. With apologies to Daniel San, the wax on wax off prep is even better for AI than for martial arts.
